Contract Type: Fixed Term for 3 years
Hours of work: 37.5 per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Stoma Nurse Team Leader, to join the Stoma Nursing Team. The post sits within the General Surgery and Urology Directorate.
The Team Leader will lead and manage the Stoma Nursing teams based at York and Scarborough. The teams currently comprise of Stoma Clinical Nurse Specialists and Administrative Assistants. The teams provide support for patients in hospital and in the community, so the ability to travel is an essential part of the role. The Team Leader can choose either York or Scarborough to be their base, but there will be frequent travel to the other site as well as some community visits.
The successful applicant will have at least two years experience as a Band 6 Stoma CNS, and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development. The Team Leader needs to develop a strategy for the future of the Stoma Nursing Team, and will be supported by the Directorate Manager and Matron to do so.
The candidate will need to work with autonomy, and deal with situations as they arise, due to the complexity of the service. The role requires all aspects of leadership and management, which you would expect with a team of nursing staff, and a high amount of patients. The Team Leader will be expected to work clinically for two - three days per week.
Please contact us to discuss this exciting opportunity in more detail.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
