We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated nurse manager to work as a Research Nurse Manager undertaking portfolio research.
Working under the supervision of the Lead Research Nurse and Head of R&D you would take responsibility for the for the line management of the nursing within the research active departments throughout the trust and to operate a flexible cross team working model. You will coordinate study set-up, management, co-ordination and facilitation of a caseload of concurrent NIHR CRN portfolio research studies across you research active departments within the hospital. You will provide leadership and management to research nursing staff incorporating all personnel related activities and line management working across the hospital. In addition to clinical and patient related, this role includes document generation and control, project tracking and logistics, data collection, patient recruitment accrual reporting.
You will have continuing responsibility for assessment of patient care needs of research and trial participants and for providing them with high quality care that is timely and protocol-driven. The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to participants on all aspects of their involvement in trials, including identification, advising and proper reporting of any adverse events. The post holder will contribute to development of the speciality service to trial participants and ensure cost effective use of resources.
The successful candidate must be a first Level registered Nurse and educated to diploma level or equivalent. It is essential that applicants have recent professional clinical knowledge evidenced through at least five years with two years practice of demonstrable experience requiring supervision of other qualified nurses. You must demonstrate an understanding of the Research Governance Framework and its' application in practice, within the written application and during the interview process. You must be able to prioritise workload and work on your own initiative whist making judgements about a range of clinical issues regarding trial patients.
A key part of the role will be to liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team across a number of specialities therefore the successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Please note: The post is for up to 37.5 hours a week, but must be 22.5 hours as a minimum. Hours will be discussed with the successful candidate.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
