Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

An exciting full time post has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse to join the innovative Specialist Palliative Care Team (SPCT), working in York Teaching Community Services.

The successful candidate will be joining a well established team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Lead Nurse and Consultants in Palliative Medicine, who provide specialist palliative care expertise across the Acute and Community settings.

The team values close working relationships with medical, nursing and social health care colleagues, and the local hospice provider. We have a firm commitment to the education and training of others and promoting quality and excellence in palliative, and end of life care, across York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are keen to appoint a team orientated, highly motivated and experienced Nurse, who has expert Specialist Palliative Care knowledge, advanced communication skills and established emotional resilience.

The successful post holder will have a high level of autonomy in the management of their caseload, and will need to be a skilled decision maker and able to prioritise workload.

The team provides a 7 day service and this post requires weekend working on a rota basis. The ability to meet the travel requirements of the post is essential.

In joining our team, you will be welcomed into a supportive and nurturing work environment. Your personal professional development will be actively encouraged. This includes an annual appraisal and on-going opportunities to contribute to our service development, education and audit programmes.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
