Contract Type: Fixed term for 12 months
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
At York Teaching Hospital Trust, we're passionate about supporting our staff to be the best they can be. A huge amount of work goes into making every new joiner's first days, weeks and months a positive experience, so that they can provide excellent care to our patients.
We now have an opportunity which places extra special emphasis on our new joiner's experience...
The Trust is currently undertaking a project to recruit 100 nurses from overseas, including from India, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to the recruitment, the project will support nurses to relocate to the UK. Key dimensions include:
- Helping them find their feet in the UK, and our communities
- Co-ordinating arrangements for them to undertake examinations with the UK Professional Regulatory Body for nurses - the Nursing & Midwifery Council
- Doing everything possible to enable them to settle into the workplace
This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with people, who is highly organised, and effective at co-ordinating the most detailed arrangements for individuals and groups of people, and would like to develop their project management skills. You will lead on the delivery of the Trust's project plan, working with the support of the Recruitment Manager and the Nursing Team.
The role will not be for everyone. It will involve some travel between York and Scarborough (typically this won't be more than fortnightly, but the frequency will vary). You may sometimes have to respond to calls and messages from nurses outside of the normal 08.30 - 17.00 Monday-Friday pattern, and on their arrival in the UK from their home country it may be necessary to meet them in person outside of these times too to take them to their accommodation.
Having said all of that, this provides a really great chance to do something very different, while building your contacts and experience and working with a great team.
The Trust is open-minded about the role being filled by a nurse who wishes to undertake a project role; however, a nursing background is not an essential requirement. Previous experience of working with people who have relocated to the UK would be beneficial
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
