We require a trainee/qualified senior assistant technical officer, who will be based in the York Pharmacy Aseptic Unit. A trainee will receive on the job training, whilst completing the QCF Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills. Once workplace competency and QCF Level 2 has been completed successfully, you will be eligible for a Band 3 position. A qualified SATO will be required to complete the workplace competency, and the aseptic units for QCF Level 2.
The main duties of this role include but not limited to; preparation of injectables to Good Manufacturing Practice, provide support in maintaining and cleaning the aseptic unit to the standards required, decontamination procedures, environmental monitoring, computation of worksheets, dispensing ready to administer injectables and placing and receiving orders for those injectables.
To ensure minimum wastage in the unit, you will also be involved in the ward top-up service and stock management within the department.
You will be expected to contribute to the weekend and bank holiday rotas, and an ability to work in a team environment, or alone, is absolutely essential. It is vital that candidates understand the needs of patients and other staff members, and you must be flexible to changing work routines. Effective time management and ability to work within time constraints, is also essential.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
