Are you caring and compassionate and able to empathise well and yearn to help end of life be as comfortable as possible for both the patient and family and friends?

Are you passionate about sharing your skills and knowledge, and wanting to make a valuable contribution?

An exciting opportunity has risen to join a well established Specialist Palliative Care Team, in the role of Macmillan End of Life Educator/Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist.

You will contribute to multiple areas of education, linked to end of life care. Additionally, there will be an element of clinical practice associated with this role. The role will encompass implementation of ceilings of care, advanced care planning, and the care plan for the last days of life. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the well established, end of life care education programme at York Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust. There will be close working relationships with colleagues across the multiple sites, engaging in a collaborative approach.

Applicants should have experience of facilitating learning, teaching, audit and planning. We are looking for someone with passion, enthusiasm and creativity to develop, and contribute, to the existing educational strategy, and palliative care service.

The post will be based at York Hospital within the Specialist Palliative Care Team.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
