An opportunity has arisen for a BOA qualified Plaster Technician to join our team at York Teaching Hospital. You will be required to work in the Plaster Room/Orthopaedic Outpatient Department covering clinics and the Emergency Department. You may also be required to attend the ward environment when patients are unable to attend the plaster room. The role will also provide occasional plastering support to theatres.
The right candidates must have the commitment and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Strong casting and splinting skills are a must. Working areas will encompass Orthopaedic Outpatients, supporting wards, Emergency Department, Child Development Centre and Theatres. The role will also require knowledge of Orthopaedic appliance fitting and basic wound care. Candidates will be required to assist in the mentoring of plaster room trainees and in the training programmes provided for medical staff. You should be a strong team player with a can do attitude as you may be required to assist in clinic at times to support the team.
Some cross site working may be required to support the Trust in the plaster rooms in Scarborough and Bridlington Hospitals, although this will be minimal.
If you're enthusiastic and motivated with a compassionate and caring personality, enjoy working with people and want to make a difference to the patient’s journey we'd love to hear from you.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
