Do you want to be part of a Neurology Team that strives to ensure the best possible care is available and delivered to our patients with Multiple Sclerosis? If so we want to hear from you! An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist for MS to join York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful applicant will provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring dissemination of evidence based practice to health professionals providing direct and indirect patient care to people with MS. You will be actively involved in leading the continued development of the service and sustain good working relationships with multi-professional colleagues and peers.

Working alongside Consultant Neurologists and the existing MS nurse you will provide a service to include nurse led clinics, home visits and telephone support to ensure people with MS receive the proactive care they need from diagnosis to end-of life.

To succeed in this role; you will need to have relevant post registration experience including experience of managing patients with a neurological condition. You will be expected to manage a patient case load and undertake nurse led clinics. You will also have the drive and enthusiasm to develop new and innovative approaches to MS care and have experience of teaching and assessing. You will need to have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously.

This post will be based at York hospital but will involve clinic and in-patient work as well as home based visits.

We work closely with the MS Trust to support you in your training as an Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist in MS and there will be provision for you to attend a week long residential course for new-in-post MS nurses in either March or October of 2019. There will also be an induction period when you first come into post giving you an opportunity to shadow other members of the MS team and wider MDT.

If you are interested and would like to know more about this fantastic opportunity please contact Donna Jack, Matron on 01904 724076.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
