CONSULTANT VASCULAR SURGEON
We are delighted to invite candidates to apply to work with us in this dynamic and expanding Vascular Surgical Department in a beautiful area of Yorkshire. The post is based at York Hospital.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and forward thinking surgeon to this Vascular post, who will work well within the team to continue to develop a number of leading regional services. Therefore applicants with sub-specialty interests will be wholeheartedly encouraged.
The services is well supported by site-specific cancer specialist nurses, and junior doctors (speciality doctors, specialty registrars, core trainees and foundation doctors).
There are highly supported opportunities for clinical research and to undertake teaching of undergraduate students as part of the Hull and York Medical School (HYMS).
Candidates must be on the GMC Specialist Register for General Surgery, or be within six months of obtaining the CCT at the time of interview. Familiarity with issues of service organization and development would be particularly advantageous

York is a richly historic city with a population of around 100,000 and was recently voted the ‘number one place to live in the UK’ (The Times 2018). It has high quality schools in both the state and independent sectors and there are excellent road and rail links to surrounding towns and cities as well as easy access to the beautiful Yorkshire Moors and Dales and the spectacular beaches of the East Yorkshire Coast. London is accessible by train in under 2 hours and there are regional airports in Leeds and Hull.
Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort on the North East Coast of Yorkshire set in stunning countryside. The local industries include agriculture, fishing and tourism. Scarborough is one of the top ten tourist destinations in England, attracting more than one million visitors during the summer months. Scarborough is easily accessible both by car and public transport routes.
The recruitment programme for this position will take place over two days as follows (please note that shortlisted candidates will need to be available to attend the Trust on all of the dates listed below):
• Day 1- 16 May 2018: Assessment Centre – all shortlisted candidates
• Day 2- 17 May 2018: Interviews – candidates successful at Assessment Centre
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
