We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, to join our team in the Microbiology Laboratory at York Hospital. This is a chance to gain further work experience in audit, training and quality assurance, as well as diagnostic Microbiology.
After suitable training, you will be expected to participate in the weekend and out of hours rosters. We operate an on call service, Monday - Friday, from 5pm. On call on a Saturday starts at 5pm, and on a Sunday at 4pm, with a reduced BMS team during the day. The weekend roster is a one in five commitment.
Applications from a Band 5 BMS will be considered, and paid according to agenda for change.
Core hours are 08.45am - 5.15pm, plus there will be a Saturday and Sunday enhancement.
You will be part of a team of scientists and medical laboratory and clerical assistants, committed to providing a high quality diagnostic service to our patients. You will be performing a wide range of microbiological investigations on clinical specimens, and instrumentation includes a BACTEC FX, GenXpert PCR and UF1000 urine analysers.
We are UKAS accredited, and also accredited for training with the IBMS/HCPC. We have an in-house CPD scheme, and further qualifications and training are positively encouraged.
