We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with recent secretarial experience to join the Colorectal Secretarial Team at York Teaching Hospital. You will provide support to the Medical Secretaries and their Consultant teams.
Excellent administration/secretarial skills and audio-typing qualifications are vital, as well as a good understanding of customer relations. You will regularly be required to deal with queries from patients, consultants and GPs.
You will be responsible for typing clinical and administrative letters, answering telephone enquiries and dealing with patient referral queries, as well as diary management for the Consultant Surgeons, and general administrative tasks.
The successful candidate will be required to work well under pressure, with the ability to prioritise the demands of a busy office and manage their time and workload effectively. They will also be required to work unsupervised and communicate with Consultant Surgeons on a regular basis. This post requires skills in medical terminology, word processing and audiotyping.
This post is for 22.5 hours per week, which needs to include some hours on Monday and Friday, but there is a degree of flexibility for the remainder which will be discussed at interview.
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
