NHS Procurement is undergoing the largest ‘shake-up’ in the last 10 years - it's a very exciting time to be in Procurement!  The Department of Health is transforming NHS Procurement through the introduction of the Operating Model (OM). This is part of the Government's strategic response to enhancing procurement efficiency and effectiveness across the NHS.

In order to maximise the benefits of OM, our Trust is looking to recruit someone to undertake a (hybrid) Senior Buyer / Category Specialist / Senior Materials Management Officer role. The role is the key relationship between end users, (clinicians and patients), and our suppliers. The post holder will have high level of experience and professional knowledge and be able to utilise these skills through effective time management. They will ensure projects and procurement run to plan, represent value for money and supports safe, effective and sustainable healthcare.

The post holder will be someone who can work within a team or independently. They will work with project groups and colleagues to establish user requirements, investigate procurement needs, procure goods and services, resolve problems and ensure value for money solutions are provided. They will be able to influence, persuade and motivate others to make 'every penny count'.

We anticipate that this post will be filled as 30 hours per week over 5 days, (Monday to Friday), but we will consider requests for some flexibility.  We will happily consider those already working in the NHS who might want to seek a secondment opportunity.

The post will be based Scarborough Hospital but we are willing to consider other Trust locations also.

Do feel free to call for an informal chat about these positions, or to arrange a visit to see us.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
