Are you looking for a new challenge? Would you like to work in our innovative and friendly department?

We are looking to recruit a Senior Pharmacy Technician who's role will be split each day between radiopharmacy, and as a Medicine Management Technician supporting the ward based clinical pharmacy service. This role will give you the opportunity to work in all aspects of the hospital pharmacy service.

You will be based each morning in radiopharmacy, where you will prepare radiopharmaceuticals in a clean room environment. Aseptic experience is preferred but not essential as training will be given. You will also contribute to the quality management system for the radiopharmacy unit through the completion and review of standard operating procedures and environmental monitoring.

The post is ward based each afternoon, where you will complete medicine reconciliations and order medicines for both inpatients and patient discharge. You will also complete patient counselling.

You will have a weekly dispensary session and will support other operational aspects of the service as requested by your line manager.

The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate good organisational ability, be able to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. Attention to detail is essential.

You will work 1 in 6 weekends, (Saturday and Sunday), and 1 Bank Holiday a year on a rota basis.

You must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
