Here at Scarborough, we are passionate about maintaining our high quality of nursing care on SCBU and are seeking to recruit several Deputy Sisters / neonatal nurse who can offer compassion, motivation and excellent skills to help lead our team as shift leader/Deputy Sister.
You would be part of a small team who would assist the Senior Sister in maintaining our high standards.
We are an 8 cot unit who provides 'family centred care' to preterm babies of over 32 weeks gestation. We have the facility to stabilise up to 2 high dependency/intensive care babies and have recently introduced CPAP.
We can provide you with individualised professional development and being part of our team, you would assist the Senior Sister with appraisals and development of junior staff. Regular opportunities exist to attend high risk deliveries, co-ordinate emergency admissions/transfers and be involving audits and guideline development.
There will be opportunity for cross site working at our sister unit in York, where you can keep updated with intensive care skills at a level 2 NICU.
Requirements are: Qualified nurse with a current registration. Experience of working on a Neonatal unit for at least 2 years and hold the Neonatal qualification (ENB 405 or equivalent). You would ideally have a mentorship qualification or be willing to work towards this whilst employed within SCBU, Scarborough.
We would expect you to have good leadership skills, problem solving abilities, good team worker, and good time management skills.
We would also expect you to be skilled and enthusiastic in supervising and teaching junior staff, and be committed to self-development and service improvements.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
