…to help make us a valued and trusted partner within our care system, that delivers safe effective care to our local population.

Think outside the box! Come and work with our fantastic team in a wonderful location! We are seeking to recruit Anaesthetists with a Special Interest in Intensive Care Medicine, to work at Scarborough Hospital. Following a review of our Intensive Care service provision at Scarborough we are hoping to expand our Anaesthetic and Intensive Care workforce. There will be the opportunity for cross site working at York Hospital. Please see our ICU recruitment video for more details (Search youtube for “Intensive Care at Scarborough”).

The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic team of 16 Consultant Anaesthetists delivering services to Scarborough Hospitals. We are part of a larger directorate of over 60 Consultant Anaesthetists within the York Teaching Hospital trust. We provide services for a population of approximately 800,000 and covering an area of 3,400 square miles.

Scarborough Hospital has recently expanded its ICU, and now has 8 beds for 6 level 3 patients (or equivalent). We have provision to provide all aspects of Intensive Care expected in a DGH.

Candidates must have a Medical Degree and be on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia, or be within twelve months of obtaining their CCTs (or equivalent) at the time of interview. A familiarity with issues of service organisation and development would be particularly advantageous.

Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort on the East Coast of Yorkshire, attracting more than one million visitors during the summer months. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park on Scarborough’s doorstep provides a place to get away from the crowds and discover our wonderful heritage.

If you are shortlisted, you will be required to take part in an Assessment Centre.

Assessment Centre and Interview are scheduled to take place for a full day on the 15th March 2019. The Assessment Centre will be based at York Hospital and usually lasts no more than 2 hours. Full details will be provided to you if you are shortlisted to attend.
