Are you a Pre-Registered Nurse just beginning your nursing career – or a qualified Nurse looking to make a fresh start somewhere new?

Here within the Directorate for Older People’s Services at York University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust we have a number of exciting opportunities designed to suit you, based at our Scarborough site.

We are looking for passionate, dynamic and caring Band 5 Nurses who have an interest in Older People’s health which is very rewarding and offers challenge through its diverse nature and complexity.

The successful candidates must be compassionate individuals who put the patients experience at the core of everything they do.

We currently have vacancies in the following areas based at Scarborough Hospital:

Oak Ward - (33 beds - mixed ward)

Ann Wright Ward - (18 beds - male ward)

Graham Ward - (18 beds - female ward)

We pride ourselves with striving to attain the highest standards of care and to continually improve every aspect of our service delivery in a continually changing environment.

If you are looking for an area to gain a great grounding knowledge, or a place to build upon your existing skills, this is the opportunity for you. This opportunity will expose you to acute, complex nursing care, which is both rewarding and challenging in a supportive environment, where you will get as much out as you put in.

For qualified nurses looking for a change, look no further. The Trust offers the prospect of being able to demonstrate experience and skills in a fast based, ever changing environment, as well as access a huge range of learning and training opportunities and support from a ward based mentor.

Graduating nurses joining our Trust receive an exceptional 12 month preceptorship programme, supported by a dedicated preceptor to help them attain the competencies in their chosen clinical area.

  • Nurses who have completed their qualification and are awaiting NMC registration will be paid at AfC Band 4 (previously Band 2)
  •  A £750 relocation fee where a Nurse is moving 20 miles from an address that was 50 miles from your new work base;
  • £250 payment* to any staff member for referrals which lead to appointment (paid after the new starter completes 3-months in post)

If you would like further information or to arrange an informal visit to the Wards, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Ward Sisters detailed below.
