We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Optometrist with an interest in retinal disease who would be keen to undertake an extended role in our specialised Retinal Treatment Clinics to help meet the needs of our expanding service.

The successful candidate will work alongside Consultant Ophthalmologists using advanced clinical techniques to undertake assessment of patients with Diabetic Macular Oedema (DMO) & Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) prior to treatment.

The DMO/RVO retinal treatment service is setup at Bridlington Hospital in a bespoke eye unit and runs every Tuesday.

Practical knowledge of DMO/RVO and its assessment and treatment are required but relevant training will be given to fulfil the needs of this post.

The post is sessional (7.5 hrs/day) and the successful candidate will be required to work on the Tuesday.

The successful candidate will need to hold a BSc in Optometry and be registered with the General Optical Council and should have at least 2 years post graduate experience.

Candidates should have an up to date and good practical knowledge of the retina and DMO/RVO, to include the assessment and treatment of this condition.

Prior knowledge and experience of OCT, its use and interpretation is desirable but not essential. Relevant training will be given to fulfil the needs of the post. The successful candidate should be able to work well as part of a team and should have good communication skills.
